Jat Airways JSC is Serbia's national air company. It conducts scheduled and charter passenger and cargo air transport services, flight and other aeronautical personnel training, tourist industry services, business aviation services, leases free capacities...
The companies carries out air traffic with 14 airplanes: ten Boeing 737-300 and four ATR 72. It maintains lines to over thirty Euro-Mediterranean destinations, and provides for its passengers connecting flights worldwide on shared flights with the world’s most prestigious air carriers.
Jat is successor to Društvo za Vazdušni Saobraćaj Aeroput (the AEROPUT Society for Air Travel), which was founded on June 17, 1927. Out of AEROPUT emerged Jugoslovenski Aerotransport (Yugoslav Airlines) on April 1, 1947, which was renamed on August 8, 2003, into Javno Preduzeće za Vazdušni Saobraćaj Jat Airways (Jat Airways Public Air Transport Company). As of July 28, 2008, Jat Airways changed ownership and the company's official name is currently Akcionarsko Društvo za Vazdušni Saobraćaj Jat Airways a.d. (Jat Airways Joint Stock Company for Air Transport Services).
Jat is International Air Transport Association (IATA) member since 1961 and Association of European Airlines (AEA) member since 1971. It was one of the first companies to which IATA in 2005 issued IOSA operational safety certificate.
